Ride out roaring success for carers charity

by isleofman.com 20th June 2011

A BIKE ride around the TT course on Father's Day raised £187 for Crossroads Caring for Carers.

More than 30 bikers rode out from the Creg ny Baa stopping at the Glen Helen and Sulby Glen pub to collect playing cards in a game of poker.

Brian King was the biker to arrive back to the Creg na Baa with the best poker hand winning a bike health check and a retro Honda t-shirt courtesy of Isle of Man Honda. Runners up won £50 DMS vouchers and a meal for two at the Creg ny Baa.

Crossroads has thanked Isle of Man Honda, DMS and the Creg ny Baa and participating public houses for their support and hope many riders will return for this annual event next year.

The funds raised will go towards providing direct care breaks for family and informal carers and support services for people with a care need in the Island.

Crossroads mini Parish Walk, also held on Father's Day, raised £147. Look out for Crossroads walkers in the Parish Walk this Saturday. The charity has expressed thanks to Fit 4 Hire and The Strand Centre for facilitating the event.
