FIRE crews from Douglas spent over an hour and a half dealing with a tumble dryer fire in Crosby yesterday morning.
On arrival the crews found that the upper floor of the property was heavily smoke logged.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using high pressure water hose-reel equipment and a portable fire extinguisher.
Fire damage was confined to the tumble dryer, a nearby washing machine and the adjacent kitchen worktops.
A motorised ventilation fan was required to clear the smoke from the upper floors of the property.
The occupants of the property had fled prior to the arrival of fire crews and were uninjured. Two pet dog suffered the effects of smoke inhalation and required treatment from a vet.
The fire was quickly brought under control however fire crews remained in attendance for approximately 75 minutes in order to remove fire damaged items and to check for further fire spread.
