Drug could prolong life: MHK tells health chiefs

A Douglas MHK is challenging the health department to pay for a specialist cancer drug for one of his constituents.

North Douglas member Bill Henderson will raise the patient's case in Tynwald this week.

David Cowin from Glen Park has incurable pancreatic cancer and believes the drug could prolong his life.

But he's been told the Island's NHS cannot afford to offer the drug on an individual basis.

The drug's available on prescription in Scotland but hasn't yet been approved in England.

Mr Henderson says there's evidence it could help Mr Cowin:
