YOUNG filmmakers are encouraged to show off their talents by taking part in two film competitions organised by the Isle of Man Arts Council.
Young Filmmaker of Mann and the Short Film Competition will run until August.
The Short Film Competition was introduced in 2007 as part of the Isle of Man Film Festival and is open to anyone who is resident in the Isle of Man, of Manx descent or whose films have a Manx theme.
Young Filmmaker of Mann is in its eighth year and has become an established outlet for young Manx filmmakers to showcase their talent. Entrants must be under the age of 23.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK said: "Developments in film and media technology have given young people the ability to produce short films in abundance over recent years. Entry numbers for these competitions grow every year and it is wonderful to see such talent being nurtured on the Island."
Individuals and groups can apply for both competitions and the categories are - comedy, drama, documentary, experimental, music video and animation.
Category winners will be awarded £100 and overall competition winners will receive trophies and £200 each. Shortlisted entries will be screened in a showcase event at the Manx Museum on Saturday, September 3, as part of the Film Festival.
The closing date for entries into both competitions is Wednesday, August 22. Entry forms can be obtained from the Isle of Man Arts Council by calling 01624 694598, or email iomartscouncil@gov.im and via the website www.iomarts.com.
