Departmental pay for MHKs should be removed, according to one of the candidates in Rushen for the general election in September.
Laurence Skelly, a wholesale business owner and event manager, lived in California until he returned to the Isle of Man twelve years ago.
He would like to see MHK's receive a flat salary, with no additional pay for departmental work (listen to audio file below):
Five candidates have so far declared their intention to contest the three seats in Rushen, the others being sitting members Quintin Gill, Juan Watterson and Phil Gawne, and Adrian Tinkler.
