MHKs among congregation at Ramagge funeral

by isleofman.com 15th June 2011

There was an upbeat send-off for the man who became known as 'Mr Diabetes' in the Isle of Man, at his funeral this afternoon (Wednesday).

Six MHKs were among a packed congregation at Douglas crematorium, to salute the passing of health campaigner Henry Ramagge.

Mr Ramagge was a Gibraltarian who regarded himself as a Manxman. He spoke for diabetes sufferers in the Isle of Man, leading a support group and writing a monthly newsletter.

He was heavily involved in the campaign to retain the Reciprocal Health Agreement, and more recently a dedicated breast care surgeon at Noble's Hospital.

The Monty Python song 'Great Balls of Fire' played out as the congregation left the chapel.
