View the Island's space stations today

by isleofman.com 18th June 2011

THERE is a chance to visit two space stations and a space capsule in Jurby today (Saturday).

Space company Excalibur Almaz Limited is holding a public open day to showcase the stations which arrived in the Isle of Man in January.

The two space stations, one a near-completed test unit and the other a space station frame, have been undergoing evaluation and testing at a former Royal Air Force station hangar in Jurby.

The space capsule, a reusable return vehicle, is the other element of Excalibur Almaz’s family of space systems that will also be on display. It will serve as the transport vehicle to and from the space stations in orbit.

At the public event there will be opportunity to tour the facility in Jurby, speak with representatives from Excalibur Almaz and learn more about the future of the commercial space industry.

Excalibur Almaz's mission is to become the world leader in providing reliable, affordable and routine access to space for exploration, experimentation, and tourism for customers around the world.

The open day takes place between 10am and 5pm at Excalibur Almaz on the Jurby Industrial Estate. It is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.
