New technology boosts worldwide listenership

by isleofman.com 15th June 2011

Over 14,000 people around the world used two recently launched high tech devices to follow the coverage of Friday's Senior Race on Manx Radio TT.

Four thousand made use of the Manx Radio iPhone app, and just over 10,000 visited the station's website - manxradio.com - and clicked on the new Radioplayer.

It means worldwide listenership for the blue riband event, via the Island's national broadcaster, was three times greater than in 2010.

General visits to the station's website were 94 per cent up on TT 2010, increasing from 172,000 to 335,000 during the fortnight.

Manx Radio's iPhone application has attracted 10,000 users since it was launched exactly three weeks ago, 92 per cent of them from within the British Isles.
