A group campaigning for a dedicated breast surgeon in the Isle of Man have presented a petition with more than 7,000 names to Health Minister David Anderson.
Members of the newly formed Breast Care Action Group held a placard demonstration outside the sitting of the House of Keys today (Tuesday).
They are objecting to the Health Department's plan to appoint a general surgeon with an interest in breast care, instead of a breast specialist.
The campaigners held a public meeting last month and have won support from many women who have been treated by a specialist at Noble's Hospital.
In the face of vocal opposition today, Mr Anderson maintained that services would not be compromised (listen to audio file below):
East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell will take the matter to Tynwald next week.
