It was another difficult day at the Tour de Suisse for Mark Cavendish.
The riders today tackled the 198km route from Grindelwald to Huttwil.
Despite stage four being earmarked beforehand as one which may suit the sprinters, Cavendish tweeted afterwards that there was 2000 metres of total elevation.
He says he gave it a go on the first of two circuits at the end in Huttwil, but knew he wouldn't make the second, so sat up and took it easy.
He eventually finished in 147th, 7m 23s behind world champion Thor Hushovd.
The big Norwegian, who Cavendish is no stranger to tussling with at the end of stages, outsprinted the young Slovakian rider Peter Sagan.
Sagan had won yesterday's third stage.
Tomorrow is another long stage, 204km from Huttwil to Tobel-Tagerschen.
