Liberal Vannin party to be represented at Congress of Liberal International

THE Island's Liberal Vannin party will be represented at the 57th Congress of Liberal International later this week.

 

The congress, which is being held in Manila, in the Philippines, takes place between Thursday, June 16 and Monday, June 20.

 

Chris Thomas the party spokesperson for business and economics, who is currently working as a chief technical advisor for a capital markets development project, will represent Liberal Vannin at the event.

 

This year the theme of the congress is Human Rights and Trade. A wide range of topics are on the agenda including the role of Liberal International, the role of China, new mechanisms for the protection of human rights and democratisation processes in the Middle East and North Africa.

 

Peter Karran MHK, leader of the Liberal Vannin Party, said: "I am very pleased that Chris is able to attend this congress on our behalf and I look forward to his report on the event when he returns to the Island."
