Fatal accident in Bemahague Road

by isleofman.com 14th June 2011

A motorcylist died and another was detained in Noble's hospital, after their machine was involved in an accident with a refuse collection vehicle.

It happened in Bemahague Road, Onchan near the entrance to the Governor's Hill estate, at around quarter to four yesterday (Monday) afternoon.

There were two people on the motorcyle, a red and white Suzuki, but it's not clear whether it was the rider or pillion passenger who suffered fatal injuries.

The road was closed for around five hours while officers carried out investigations, and an appeal is being made for witnesses to ring Police Headquarters on 631212.

The driver of the Dennis Eagle refuse collection vehicle received minor injuries.

The coroner of inquests has been informed.
