Island residents set bad example to TT visitors

The numbers of road accidents and arrests were both up at TT 2011 compared with the same period last year.

There were 92 incidents on the roads, 13 more than in 2010.

Fatal accidents were up from one to four and serious ones rose from 22 to 32.

There were over three times as many locals arrested as visitors during the fortnight, with total arrests standing at 198.

Of those, 136 involved drinking and drunkenness, while 13 were drug-related.

Inspector Derek Flint says he's disappointed by the behaviour of some Island residents:
