Council plans parks for large vehicles

Two areas in Noble's Park could soon be used as 'pay and display' parking areas for motor homes and large commercial vehicles.

Following a request from central government to the Island's local authorities, Douglas Borough Council plans to make the land available for the purpose.

Council leader David Christian says overnight parking of inappropriately large vehicles in residential areas has become a problem in recent years, but owners have always claimed there is nowhere else to put them.

He says the council has come up with a solution which, subject to planning approval, would also generate some income:
