Della 'shocked and delighted' to be honoured by Queen

A senior civil servant is celebrating today (Saturday) after being awarded an MBE for her services to the Manx government.

Director of external relations Della Fletcher has worked in a number of roles during her career, at present overseeing the Isle of Man's relationships with the United Kingdom, the European Community and other international organisations.

She has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Della says she was shocked and delighted when she received the phone call from the Lieutenant Governor:
