Bomber over the Island's capital

by isleofman.com 10th June 2011

The last flying Vulcan in the world is due over Douglas Bay about now (Friday, 8pm).

The delta wing bomber, an icon of British military cold war aviation, saw action in the Falklands War in 1982.

However, the aircraft type first took to the air only eleven years after the maiden flight of the World War II Lancaster bomber.

Ground crew volunteer for Vulcan 558 Toni Hunter says people will go to extraordinary lengths to see her, and remembers one man who witnessed her in flight soon after being rescued from the post RAF scrapheap:

The TT 2011 celebrations should close with a bang with the fireworks display over Douglas Bay at 11pm.
