BUDDING chefs who have a passion for seafood have been invited to compete in a Masterchef style cook-off at the Queenie Festival in July.

Festival organisers and the Isle of Man Seafood Development Partnership are running a competition to find the best recipe which features Manx queenies.

Chefs are invited to submit their entries and the top two from the entries received will be chosen. These two finalists will go head to head in a live cook-off on the closing day of the festival – Sunday, July 4.

The finalists will be judged by Simon Wadham and Richard Kirkwood who are the head chefs at London's Rivington and J. Sheekey restaurants respectively. Food writer and broadcaster Henrietta Green and Alastair Hamilton, the head of the Seafood Development Partnership, will also be on the panel.

The winner will receive a personalized trophy and £100 of seafood from Paddy's Hooked on Fish.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the Queenie Festival website or can be picked up from Paddy's in Port St Mary or at the Victoria Road Shoprite in Douglas.

Entrants must include the name of the dish, ingredients, full details of the method and a photo of the finished dish.

The competition is open to people of all ages and abilities. Recipes should take no longer than 30 minutes to prepare. The closing date for entries is June 20 at 3pm.

The Isle of Man Queenie Festival takes place in Port St Mary between July 1 and July 3.
