More roadworks for Douglas residents

by isleofman.com 9th June 2011

THE Department of Infrastructure has announced that it will be carrying out resurfacing work in the Vicarage Road area of Douglas from Monday.

Motorists have been warned to expect the works to continue for four weeks.

The existing road surface will be removed and the carriageway between the Saddle Road Roundabout and a point 10 metres west of the entrance to Vicarage Park will be resurfaced.

Temporary traffic lights will be used during daytime hours (9.15am to 4.30pm) and there will be night time closures (6pm to 6am) to allow workers to undertake the resurfacing.

The night closures are scheduled to take place on June 13, 14, 17 and 18 and July 6 and 7. This is subject to change dependent on the weather conditions at the time.

During the night time closures access into Vicarage Park will be via the west end of the works. Access to Vicarage Park will not be possible on the night of July 6 while the surfacing across the entrance to Vicarage Park is carried out.

Residents have been asked to make alternative travel arrangements or to park their vehicles within the section of the Vicarage Road between Vicarage Park and Meadow Crescent roundabout.

A 7.5 ton weight limit will be in place for the duration of the works and access to Kirby Business Park will be via Cooil Road.

The department would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and co-operation.
