Elton John contracts have been signed says Douglas Council

by isleofman.com 8th June 2011

DOUGLAS Council has confirmed that the contracts for the Elton John concert next week have now been signed.

New contracts for the event at Noble's Park on Thursday, June 16, had to be signed between the council and concert promoters Marshall Arts Ltd after the cancellation of the Manx Telecom Bay Festival.

Elton John had been due to perform in the same tented venue as the acts taking part in the festival. However when this was cancelled Marshall Arts revealed they were working to resolve "logistical issues" so that the gig could still go ahead.

Today Sue Harrison, the assistant chief executive for Douglas Borough Council, said: "In terms of contracts for hiring the site, they are signed and are all ready to go."

Last month Marshall Arts Ltd said the construction of the venue was due to take place during the week of the TT races.

isleofman.com approached Marshall Arts Ltd for clarification on when the venue would be constructed and when tickets for the concert, which is eight days away, would be sent out. No one was available for comment.
