Island represented at opening of Welsh Assembly

Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan joined the royal procession at the opening of the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff yesterday (Tuesday).

The assembly has new law-making powers after the public voted 'yes' in a referendum in May.

It was opened by the Queen, who was accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Speaker Rodan used the occasion to renew contacts with colleagues from the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland assemblies.

He says he was proud to represent the Isle of Man at such an important occasion:
