Constabulary stands by one-way system

Police are defending the decision to make the Mountain Road one-way during TT fortnight.

The system was first introduced four years ago as a safety measure to reduce the likelihood of head-on collisions.

A series of accidents on the road, which has no speed limit, has prompted suggestions it is effectively converted into a race track for bikers for two weeks of the year.

Inspector Derek Flint insists that's not the case:
