Capital will 'move into 21st century'

Work on transforming Douglas town centre is about to begin.

Contractors will move in to start the first phase of a ?5.5 million scheme on Monday, in Upper and Lower Nelson Street.

Phase one will take about six weeks to complete, and will see the installation of all-new paving, LED controlled 'mood lighting', and what's called pencil drainage.

Chairman of the borough council's Public Works Committee David Ashford is confident people are going to be impressed:
