CHRIS Shimmin, pensions supervisor for the Isle of Man government’s Insurance and Pensions Authority, has returned to the private sector - and back to the company he used to work for.
Mr Shimmin has been re-appointed as director of Fedelta Pensions Limited, based at the Fedelta Group headquarters in Athol Street, Douglas.
He was one of the founding directors of Fedelta Pensions Limited in 1996, prior to taking up a position with the IPA. Whilst at the IPA he was instrumental in establishing a regulatory pension system for the Island and writing the Authority’s international and domestic pension regulations under the provisions of the Retirement Benefits Schemes Act 2000.
Fedelta Pensions managing director, Nigel Callin, said, “During the time Chris has been at the IPA, there have been many changes in legislation that have added to the complexity of managing pension schemes, it is therefore a great boost to our already experienced team to have such a highly technical specialist back with us.”
Chris Shimmin said, “Working at the IPA has been an interesting and challenging role but it is good to be back in the private sector working with a team that leads the way in providing the best possible pension planning solutions for clients at the top-end of the pensions market and I am looking forward to renewing old relationships and forming new ones”.
He added “Fedelta has seen fantastic growth in recent years, particularly in the local SIPPS and the QROPS transfer markets, but the original management and longstanding clients are still here and this stability is one of the main ingredients that gives Fedelta the edge in understanding clients’ needs and delivering effective solutions and a top quality service.”
As a long-standing pensions specialist, Fedelta Pensions Limited was the first company to be registered with the Isle of Man Insurance and Pension Authority as a professional Retirement Benefits Schemes Administrator.
Fedelta’s Group services include pension services, bespoke trust and corporate services and fund administration.
