Fingers crossed that the weather holds for the remainder of TT Week racing

by isleofman.com 7th June 2011

THE Isle of Man weather forecast for the remainder of TT Week means it will be a case of fingers crossed for the organisers with scattered showers predicted through to the weekend.

The official 5-day forecast by the Isle of Man Met Office at Ronaldsway Airport says that we should expect showers every day, with reduced visibility during showers.

It’s also possible that there may be some low-lying clouds and mist on the mountain - which could lead to possible delays to the start of racing. The first race tomorrow (Wednesday) is scheduled for 10.45am with roads closing at 10am (9am on the Mountain section).

Both race days so far have been blessed with glorious weather, but TT organisers are still hoping to complete the programme by Friday evening and the race schedule allows for a late finish to racing, such as on Monday.

Temperatures over the next few days are also unlikely to be higher than 16 degrees, which means that anyone watching on the mountain will need to go well prepared to face the likelihood of cool breezes, as discovered during yesterday’s racing.

It was sunny throughout the day on the mountain yesterday, but a sometimes very cold breeze caught out those who arrived without suitable clothing. “We were frozen,” said one spectator. “It was still brilliant and we had a fantastic view of the bikes, but we will be taking more clothes if we go back to watch again on the mountain.”
