Five weeks of roadworks on Victoria Road

by isleofman.com 7th June 2011

WORK to reconstruct and resurface the footway between Shoprite Victoria Road and Glencrutchery Road will start on Monday.

The roadworks are expected to take five weeks to complete and during this time traffic lights will be in operation during daytime hours.

Daily road closure orders will be in effect between 8am and 4.30pm on Little Switzerland starting with the southern entrance by Shoprite roundabout and changing to the northern entrance as work progresses.

Pedestrian access to all properties will be maintained however vehicular access to properties between the roundabout and Little Switzerland (north) will be restricted due to the construction of the footway.

This phase of the works is expected to last between two and three weeks.

The work is the first stage in completing the full refurbishment of the road. The Department of Infrastructure has said other work will be phased in order to minimise disruption to motorists.

This work was due to start in April but was postponed after Shoprite highlighted concerns.
