Property owners respond to by-law threat

Douglas Borough Council has run out of patience with the owners of the former Woolworths store in Strand Street.

Council leader David Christian says he has been bitterly disappointed for some time by the appearance of the building, and a number of attempts to improve the fascade have failed.

However, following renewed complaints from retailers that their businesses were being affected, white hoardings have been put in place across the front of the building.

Action was also threatened under the town's by-laws:
