MICHAEL Dunlop claimed his second TT victory in the Isle of Man tonight (Monday) when he rode to a popular win in the Royal London Superstock race.
Following the massive disappointment of retirements in both the Superbike race on Saturday and the Supersport race this morning, Dunlop rode the StreetSweep Kawasaki to a relatively comfortable win from John McGuinness by 19 seconds.
Dunlop was very emotional at the end of the race, celebrating with a host of Irish fans who welcomed him into the finisher’s enclosure.
“After Saturday and this morning I thought the world was against me,” he said. “But the bike never missed a beat. I had a temper going out - I wanted it . . . I cannot thank my team enough. They have been fantastic.
“And the reception from the fans was just great - everyone was going bananas. That is the job, that is the job.”
John McGuinness rode another solid race, maintaining the same consistent lines around the course which has given him so much success at the TT.
He said: “For me, that was a terrific ride. The bike was great, the tyres were great. It’s great to stick the Padgett bike on the podium.”
Third place went to Guy Martin who led the race at one point. “The bike never missed a beat. It ran a treat. That’ll do.”
