Island health chiefs have received a further boost in the row over the Island’s breast care service.
Weeks after plans for a new surgeon received the backing of the Royal College of Surgeons, they’ve now gained the support of an Islander who has worked tirelessly fundraising for cancer research.
Plans to appoint a general surgeon with a special interest in breast surgery – instead of a specialist breast surgeon – have been criticised by the recently formed Breast Care Action Group.
However, Jan Brooks, president of the Isle of Man Breakthrough Breast Cancer group, say it will not compromise care for patients in any way.
