Volume of traffic partly blamed for shunts and spills

There was a spate of accidents on the the mountain road on Friday, which police put down to heavy traffic and continuous sunshine.

The section of the TT course from the Bungalow to Creg-ny-Baa was closed for an hour during the afternoon, while officers dealt with an accident.

Other parts of the mountain road were closed and didn't re-open before the evening practice session began.

Inspector Mark Britton, from the Roads Policing Unit, said the huge number of machines on the road was part of the reason for the various incidents:
