A MOTORCYCLIST sustained serious injuries in a three vehicle collision which involved a police Range Rover.
It happened on the 32nd milestone on the mountain at 9.45am today (Friday) and it led to the road being closed for four hours while police carried out an investigation.
The collision involved a red and white Honda CBR 600 motorcycle, a black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle and the marked police Range Rover which was stationary as officers were dealing with a separate collision which had happened earlier.
The Honda had slowed behind the Range Rover when it was struck from behind by the Suzuki, prior to the Suzuki colliding with the back of the Range Rover.
The rider of the Honda was unhurt but the rider of the Suzuki sustained serious injuries and was taken to Noble's Hospital by ambulance.
Police said at the time of the collision the Mountain Road was busy and a large number of people passed through the scene.
It is thought the occupants of a campervan may have seen the incident.
