Fatal road traffic collision in Sulby

A MOTORCYCLE rider died in a fatal road traffic collision in Sulby last night (Thursday).

 

The rider's red Norton motorcycle and side car collided with a parked and unattended Peugeot 206 car on the Claddaghs Road at around 6.15pm.

 

As a result of the collision the rider received fatal injuries. The sidecar passenger has been detained in Noble's Hospital with a head injury.

 

The road, near to the Ginger Hall pub, was closed for approximately four hours while police conducted enquiries at the scene.

 

At the time of the collision there were a large number of people in the area who had gathered to watch the evening TT practice session.

 

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to make contact with them to assist with their investigation.

 

The motorcycle rider's next of kin and the coroner of inquests have been informed. Their identity will not be released until a formal identification has been conducted.
