Chairman's connection with Dunkirk

Chairman of Port St Mary Commissioners Christopher Kinley says he is delighted the anchor from the Mona's Queen is to be sited in the village.

The vessel was among eight Steam Packet vessels which took part in the rescue of the British Expeditionary Force at Dunkirk, bringing more than 24,000 soldiers to safety.

The Mona's Queen, King Orry and Fenella were lost within a period of 24 hours on May 29, 1940.

The anchor was raised last year on the 70th anniversary of the Dunkirk rescue and Mr Kinley says he has a special reason for wanting to see the historic artefact sited in the village:
