Leisure facility planned for Port Erin

by isleofman.com 2nd June 2011

The owner of the old outdoor swimming pool in Port Erin has applied for permission to redevelop the site.

Steve Bradshaw wants to transform the derelict complex into a marine recreation facility.

The once plush bathing facility closed in 1981 and has been left to gather rainwater since the early nineties.

The proposed development includes a small haven which could be used by visiting boats, and as a base for marine sports.

It would also feature an 18-bedroom hotel, a shop and a restaurant.

Access for boats would be through a gate in the outer sea wall which could be raised at low tide to let in water.

Architect Hugh Logan says the project would take up to a year to complete and work could start within six months of permission being granted.

Mr Bradshaw is currently in talks with potential investors, but says he is 'unable provide information on costs at this time'.
