More volunteers needed for Age Concern shops

by isleofman.com 31st May 2011

MORE volunteers are needed to help out in two Age Concern charity shops in the Isle of Man.

The Port Erin and Ramsey shops are looking for extra volunteers to help generate more money for the charity.

George Quayle, the chief executive of Age Concern Isle of Man, said: "Our shops make a major contribution to our income stream but in order to sustain that source of income we need more volunteers.

"The work our shop volunteers do is invaluable and we’re looking for more like-minded people who would be willing to give up just a few hours a week to help.

"Ideally applicants would be cheerful men and women who are comfortable dealing with customers and confident handling money. Previous shop experience is an advantage but is not essential.

"Importantly, with volunteers being part of a team, applicants must be willing to make a regular weekly commitment.

"There's a friendly, sociable atmosphere in our shops and the work is not only varied but also rewarding as volunteers are part of a team raising funds to help us provide a wide range of services for our growing number of clients."

For more information about becoming an Age Concern volunteer telephone 01624 613044 or call into the Douglas Age Concern shop at 19, Drinkwater Street.
