The Department of Social Care says work has started on four bungalows in Jurby for older tenants.
Minister Martyn Quayle MHK says allowing older people to move into smaller properties will free up more social housing for those in need.
He says more social housing is desperately needed in Jurby, and plans are in place for more flats in the north.
