Beckii Cruel performs in London

by isleofman.com 30th May 2011

RAMSEY schoolgirl Rebecca Flint - better known as YouTube sensation Beckii Cruel - performed twice at the MCM Expo at the Excel Centre in the London Docklands at the weekend.

It was a chance for Rebecca to take a break from studying for her GCSEs.

MCM run a series of major events throughout England centred around the comic book and action movies cultures.

They all have a strong Japanese theme and the London event, which is the biggest, attracts around 50,000 visitors over the two days.

As well as going to see the bands, acts, and the hundreds of merchandise stalls, many dress up as their favourite characters.

Everyone from Captain Jack Sparrow to Stormtroopers could be seen wandering around, taking part in the Japanese phenomena known as Cosplay.

Beckii performed a selection of her best known songs and dances from YouTube and answered questions from her fans, many of whom had travelled to the event especially to see her.

She said: "It was such a fun event, and just a great break from all the revising I've been doing for my exams.

"I was really pleased to be able to do something for my UK fans, and was amazed at just how many there were. I kept getting stopped for photos and autographs.

"They were all really lovely."

Beckii was also in London for a meeting with international songwriter and producer Tom Nichols who has been working with her for the last 12 months.

She added: "We had a really good meeting and he filled me in on some really interesting developments. I'm hoping that we will be able to release some music over the next few months, which would be really cool.

"In the meantime, its back to the studying for now, but I might sneak in a bit of race watching. I really love TT, and am hoping to catch up with the Japanese riders that are over."
