Double role for new archdeacon

The Isle of Man has a new archdeacon, who will take up the position in the autumn.

The Queen, as Lord of Mann, has approved Canon Andrew Brown to succeed the Venerable Brian Smith, who retires in September after six years in the post.

Canon Brown, who is currently Canon Theologian at Derby Cathedral, will also become vicar of St George's Church in Douglas.

He says he is looking forward to the double role:
