Breastfeeding mothers welcome to watch Tynwald

by isleofman.com 26th May 2011

Breastfeeding mothers are welcome in the public galleries of the legislative chambers.

That's the opinion of President of Tynwald, Noel Cringle, who says there would be no problems for women feeding their babies while watching what happens in the House of Keys, Legislative Council and Tynwald.

His comments come as changes to the law may be brought forward in the United Kingdom to allow breastfeeding in the House of Lords chamber.

But Mr Cringle believes it would be difficult for nursing mothers to be members of the House of Keys, although it's not an issue that he expects to have to deal with.
