DESPITE thick fog, high winds and heavy rain, the sidecar push around a full lap of the TT course to raise money for charity was completed last night.
Teams of volunteers push the heavy sidecar all the way around the course in three legs, battling against the weather from the Verandah to the Grandstand late yesterday afternoon and into the evening.
The short last leg of the sidecar push will conclude first thing on Saturday morning when the volunteers push the chair to the Sure Mobile shop in Strand Street.
Teams taking part included Sure, the TT Marshals Association, Dandara and Ramsey and Vagabonds rugby clubs.
As well as raising money for the charity the push was also designed to help recruit volunteer marshals for this year's TT Races.
Terry Holmes, chairman of the TT Marshals Association, said: "The practices and races cannot go ahead without at least 500 marshals so it’s really important that we have this support. Anyone can sign up to be a volunteer marshal for the TT and it's easy to register."
Rose Dahlan, PR and marketing manager at Sure, said: "As established sponsors of the TT Sidecar race, we wanted to do something to show that we are really committed to supporting the event which brings so much excitement to the community.
"We hope to be able to really make a difference at Rebecca House while also raising awareness for the TT Marshals Association."
