Judge would accept majority verdict

by isleofman.com 24th May 2011

A murder trial jury deliberating the killing of a former Isle of Man resident faces its third day of deliberations today (Tuesday).

Robert Brown admits killing mother-of-two Joanna Brown with a claw hammer at her Ascot home last October, but denies murder.

The 47-year-old pilot, who was involved in divorce proceedings with Mrs Brown, claims he was suffering from a mental condition called adjustment disorder (AD) when he killed her.

Yesterday (Monday) afternoon, the judge told the jurors he would accept a majority verdict after they could not reach a unanimous decision.

The jury at Reading Crown Court was sent out on Thursday afternoon, and is due to continue its deliberations at 10am.

Mrs Brown grew up in Laxey and attended the Buchan school as a child.

Her mother still lives on the Island.
