A member of Ramsey Lifeboat has described how a crane designed to move wind farm pylons, was used to help rescue a seriously injured seaman.
A crewman on the heavy lift vessel Svanen suffered serious head injuries after falling down a stairway while the ship was anchored in Ramsey Bay yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
The local lifeboat crew - who'd just returned from a call-out to the Svanen's tug support vessel - was dispatched for a second time.
First-aiders boarded the Svanen to treat the man, who was then strapped into a basket stretcher and lowered into the lifeboat by one of the ship's tall cranes.
