THE Department of Infrastructure has approved an extension to a road closure for the Manx Grand Prix.
This result follows an extensive public consultation in order to determine if the road could be closed at 5pm on Saturday, August 27.
This is in addition to the extension for Saturday, August 20, which was granted last year.
A spokesperson for the Manx Motor Cycle Club said: "The Manx Motor Cycle Club is extremely grateful to the residents adjacent to the Mountain Course and other interested parties for their positive response to the consultation.
"The granting of the official road closing order will allow the Manx Motor Cycle Club to comply with the ACU ruling and the newcomers race over three laps will open the 2011 Manx Grand Prix on the Saturday evening."
