A GP who has been cleared of any possible criminal wrong-doing still faces a hearing before the General Medical Council.
On Thursday, police in the Isle of Man confirmed that, after a thorough investigation, Dr Damian Smith wouldn't be charged under Manx law.
However, the GMC's website gives his current status as 'suspended', and a spokesperson said, in such circmstances, a hearing could be expected in due course.
The GMC's Interim Orders Panel heard Dr Smith's case on February 14, and suspended him from practicing for 18 months, subject to review.
Nothing has been said about the nature of the allegations which led to him being investigated by the police, and it's not know if the absence of any criminal case will have any bearing on the hearing before the GMC.
Dr Smith left the Peel Group Practice, where he was a partner, in the middle of January, shortly after his arrest.
The General Medical Council is unable to say anything about what is a currently active case.
