Medieval mayhem and mischief at Castle Rushen

by isleofman.com 21st May 2011

You can be step back in time and see what life was like in the 13th century at Castle Rushen on Sunday.

Medieval re-enactment society, Conquest, has travelled from afar to join forces with local soldiers who’ll be invading the inside grounds of the Castle.

The troupe will perform living history, occupying a tented encampment, from 10 o’clock until 5pm.

As well as learning the skills that were required of a castle garrison 800 years ago, you can re-live the sights, sounds and smells of the era and watch knights engage in combat.

They’ll also be a chance to discover food, fashion and surgery 13th century style, and have a go at a game of medieval Merrills!
