'Nightlife' will re-open in TT Week

by isleofman.com 21st May 2011

RAMSEY will again have a nightclub when Nightlife re-opens at the start of TT Week.

Ramsey’s only nightclub closed last August after 20 years but Heron and Brearley has changed its mind following the public response to the closure.

“Nightlife has always been at the centre of a night out in Ramsey,” said recently appointed director of retail for Heron and Brearley, Steven Taylor. “The decision to close Nightlife was a difficult one for my predecessors and reflected a number of circumstances at that time.

He said that the brewery was very conscious of the impact Nightlife’s closure had on the rest of the free trade in Ramsey. “A nightclub is an important focal point,” he said.

However, he said that Heron and Brearley was “taken aback by the genuine support and affection for the venue”. A Facebook page dedicated to the club (R.I.P. Nightlife) has 498 members.

Mr Taylor added, “It’s a real pleasure for us at Heron and Brearley to be able to answer the calls for its return. Re-opening Nightlife sends out a clear message that Ramsey is a viable alternative to Douglas for a great night out at a time when the town’s regeneration plans are starting to take shape.

‘Of course, Nightlife keeps its name, but we have spent the intervening time to give the club a light refurbishment and we hope all its fans enjoy their new venue.”
