Abacus appoints new director of tax

ABACUS Trust Company Limited, has announced the appointment of Andrew Cardwell as director of tax.

 

The appointment is described by the company as part of the company’s overall growth strategy to develop and promote Abacus’ existing tax services whilst exploring new opportunities, through the Group’s Isle of Man and Malta offices.

 

“Our latest appointment complements our plans to further develop and promote our existing tax services offering,” said managing director, Chris Talavera. “Andrew has a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of tax and we are positive that he will prove to be a valuable asset to Abacus and our strategic objectives going forward.

 

“Tax planning is a key driver in our industry and with continuous changes to legislation and compliance, the requirement to develop and provide suitable tax planning structures is important for our clients.”

 

Andrew Cardwell is ACA qualified and holds over 10 years’ offshore tax experience. He has previously worked for Abacus before joining Deloitte Isle of Man in 2004 as a senior tax manager.

 

Commenting on his new appointment, Andrew Cardwell said, “I am happy to be returning to such a proactive and dynamic company. Abacus has continued to grow over the last few years and with entities now in the UK and Malta, we have a great platform for Abacus to promote a full range of tax planning solutions.
