Brenda Cannell declares in East Douglas

by isleofman.com 21st May 2011

Both sitting members of the House of Keys for East Douglas have now confirmed they will be seeking to regain their seats in September's general election.

Brenda Cannell, who has served the constituency since 1996, has joined Chris Robertshaw in confirming she hopes to be an MHK for at least another five years.

Announcing her candidacy, Mrs Cannell refers to the responsibility faced by the new administration in the present economic climate.

She says it is essential for the Island's future success and prosperity that the new government shows skill and leadership in navigating a safe course, while maintaining essential services in health and education.

She says it will have to be 'brave and bold', in not only standing up to potential hostilities from the United Kingdom and abroad, but also as it advances the Island's status in the global economy.
