David Talbot declares in Michael

by isleofman.com 19th May 2011

A third candidate has signalled his intention to contest the single seat in Michael in the House of Keys general election in September.

Businessman David Talbot believes the Isle of Man faces three major issues, namely financial and ecological, and a crisis of trust.

He says the Island's status as a Crown dependency needs to be redefined and the new government, after the election, should look towards more constitutional reform.

Mr Talbot worked for a Manx public company which had a stock exchange quotation then subsequently started his own accountancy firm, which he managed for ten years.

He sold it in 2010, and since then has concentrated on a charity he started, which raises awareness of all Isle of Man charities through a website and annual Charity Guide.

He has been a member of Patrick Commissioners since 2008 and was involved in the 'Big Tidy Up' and 'Creating Energy Focused Communities' initiatives.

The two other people who have informed Manx Radio of their intention to stand in Michael are Paul Heavey and Alf Cannan.

The general election is on September 29.
