Reaction to referendum 'no' votes

Allowing voters to choose who takes the top job in the Manx government would be littered with difficulties.

That's the view of a member of the Legislative Council, after Tynwald voted not to hold a referendum on whether the chief minister should be popularly elected.

Mr Malarkey's call for a referendum on whether the Legislative Council should be publicly elected was also defeated.
