Former Isle of Man doctor suspended

by isleofman.com 18th May 2011

THE Department of Health has been advised that a doctor formerly contracted by the Isle of Man Department of Health for a cataract surgery waiting list initiative, has had his medical registration suspended by the UK General Medical Council (GMC) forthwith.

Dr Adolf Poellmann was employed by the Department of Health for a cataract surgery waiting list initiative from November 2007 for 12 months.

Charges brought against Dr Poellmann by the UK GMC related to the Isle of Man, are for work he carried in a private practice and are not related to any Department of Health NHS patients.

The Department of Health has not received any complaints from any Isle of Man NHS patients about Dr Poellmann’s treatment or care, but if anyone has any concerns, they should contact Barbara Scott, Noble's Hospital Manager on 650051.
